A Pitt standout who got into legal trouble last season is no longer on the team or at the university at all.
A team spokesman said in a statement Friday evening that Dior Johnson is “no longer attending the University of Pittsburgh”. The move comes after Johnson was a part of the team trip to Spain earlier this month to play some exhibition games. Ranked the No. 38 overall prospect and the No. 7 point guard in the Class of 2022 by Rivals.com, Johnson was the Panthers’ highest-rated recruit since Steven Adams in 2012.
He was charged last October for a domestic violence incident that stopped him from taking part in basketball-related activities. In late December, after pleading guilty to two counts of Domestic Violence, Johnson returned to practice, but decided to redshirt the season.
