The West Shamokin Wolves defeated the United Lions, 68-50, in a Heritage Conference boys’ basketball basketball showdown on U92.5 FM on Wednesday night.
The Wolves now have a leg up on first place in the Heritage Conference, improving to 9-0 (8-0 in conference), and the Lions fell to 10-2 (8-1).

In Heritage Conference girls’ action:
Blairsville 75, Purchase Line 55
– Lexi Risinger posted a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds for Blairsville, along with Julia Potts scoring 24 points and Abby Pynos grabbing 12 rebounds for the winners.
Marion Center 62, Saltsburg 42
– Marion Center’s Nevada Armstrong had 17 points, Lydia Miller had 12 points and Alexa Ackerman had 10 points. For Saltsburg, Mackenzie Simpson and Abbie Dickie both scored 13 points.
United 62, Northern Cambria 15
In WPIAL wrestling action, Indiana fell twice in section play, losing to Kiski Area, 52-24, and to Armstrong, 48-18. Tanner Smith lead the Indians with two victories. Other Indiana winners included Jon Dietz, jack Turner, Danny Turner, Will Turner, and Brock Petras.
Indiana’s section record is now 2-3. Overall, Indiana is 3-6. Its next match is Thursday night at 7 pm at Redbank Valley.
