Members of the public are still able to submit comment regarding Indiana Borough’s 2023 Community Development Block Grant program. The reason for the extension is due to an error in advertising for Tuesday’s special hearing, which was scheduled for before borough council’s work session.
Currently, Indiana County is set to receive $206,411 on Indiana Borough’s behalf for 2023 from the state and those funds are expected to be used for the borough’s stormwater replacement project, and while no alternative recommendations were presented, some community members questioned if the federal funds were being used wisely. LuAnn Zak with the Indiana County Office of Planning and Development said these types of projects do not qualify as routine maintenance and even cited how Center Township used its portion of CDBG funding.
Zak added that public comment will be taken until the next public hearing which is scheduled to take place at the Borough council’s next voting meeting on September 5th.
