Indiana Borough Council is scheduled to hold their agenda prep meeting tonight, and as part of the meeting, the council is expected to discuss and choose the next mayor of the borough.
The special appointment is scheduled for tonight, which comes nearly one month after George Hood announced his retirement as Mayor of Indiana Borough. Hood said that he had been dealing with several medical problems and had to move out of his Indiana Borough residence to live with his daughter in White Township, making him unable to serve as the borough’s mayor. Borough Council President Peter Broad has served as the interim mayor, but the borough has accepted letters of interest over the last month from people who are interested in filling the remainder of his term, which goes to the end of the year.
Also on the agenda for tonight’s meeting, Indiana Borough Council will consider approving a Local Climate Action Planning resolution. Indiana borough recently worked with the state department of environmental protection and took part in the first cohort of local climate action planning in the state, which helped produce Indiana Borough’s Climate Action Plan. Tonight’s draft agenda says the “document demonstrates that our community leads on climate change issues.”
