As a report issued last week ranked Pennsylvania next-to-last in the nation in its covid-19 vaccine distribution system, Governor Tom Wolf continues to blame the Trump Administration for promising vaccines it did not deliver. However, the Becker’s Hospital Review report, updated on Friday, indicates Pennsylvania has vaccines, but it is holding onto them.
The top state in the nation, according to Becker’s, is West Virginia, which has distributed 80.68 percent of its federal allotment. Pennsylvania, by contrast, has distributed only 44.71 percent of its 1,915.350 doses, which means the state is holding onto over a million doses. Only Alabama is worse.
The state House Health Committee was scheduled to hold a hearing to discuss vaccine distribution today. That meeting has been postponed to 8:00 AM on Wednesday, February 3rd. You can watch it at State representative Jim Struzzi’s website, RepStruzzi.com.
Struzzi is co-sponsoring House Bill 326, which would activate the Pennsylvania National Guard to assist in the distribution and administration of the vaccine in all 67 counties. That bill could be approved and sent to the Senate this week.
