State police are continuing an investigation of a wire fraud case that happened at the end of 2020. Police say that a 58-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman, both from Clarksburg, were victims of the scam that was reported on December 31st of 2020 as the scammer had the victims confirm their bank information over the phone. The scammer used the victim’s information to transfer $1293.66 to the scammer’s checking account and withdraw it.
No one was hurt in a crash on South 6th Street last Tuesday night in White Township. State Police say that 27-year-old Donald J. Rummell of Johnstown was going west on South 6th Street just south of Lucerne Road when he hit the guide rail on the left side of the road. He over-corrected and went back across, hitting the opposite guide rail before eventually coming to a stop. Police cited him for speeding in connection with the crash.
State Police have charged a man with DUI after a crash in Burrell Township on January 18th. Troopers say that 27-year-old Nicholas Beard of New Florence was driving south on Route 119 in Burrell Township and lost control of the car he was driving. The car slid across both lanes of traffic and crashed into the center divider. Beard admitted to troopers that he had used methamphetamine before getting behind the wheel. He was taken to IRMC for a legal blood draw.
