On Thursday, the Homer-Center School Board heard concerns about a recent incident involving the baseball team.
During public comment, T.J. Roser said that on a trip the team took to Myrtle Beach, someone allegedly provided alcohol to team members, and while he said that his son and some other team members were suspended, he felt there was no disciplinary action taken against the coaches for not taking care of the situation in a proper manner. He also felt that an investigation by the district did not go far enough.
Roser added that there was no police report filed on the incident.
After the meeting, Superintendent Ralph Cecere, Jr. said that the issue is a personnel matter that cannot be discussed in public, but he did say that there was a full investigation into the incident.
Another issue that was brought up was by Nick Arone, who wants to become an assistant JV basketball coach. Others spoke up during public comment to support his efforts. Board President Michael Bertig said after the meeting that there have been no hires made yet for basketball coaches and Arone was being considered for the position.
In other business, the board approved a co-op agreement between Homer-Center and Penns Manor for a student to take part on the swimming team, and approved John Stolarz to be the director of bands and the marching band/competition band director, and Johnathan Buchanan as the Indoor Percussion director.
