The Pirates fell behind early and never recovered as they dropped the series finale to the Mets, 8-3, Wednesday afternoon.

Outfielder Joshua Palacios is considered “day-to-day” after he was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Mets with a gastrointestinal illness. Reports say he was treated and evaluated by medical staff and was seen in the clubhouse after the game.
The Pirates have off today and open a weekend series in Minnesota tomorrow night. Projected starters for the weekend are Andre Jackson in a bullpen game on Friday, Mitch Keller on Saturday, and Osvaldo Bido on Sunday.

MLB insider Hector Gomez tweeted last night that it is quote, “very unlikely” that Rays star infielder Wander Franco will play in MLB again after investigations into him allegedly having inappropriate relationships with a minor yielded more results. Gomez said more accusations were made towards Franco, and that he is being investigated by police in the Dominican Republic. He was placed on the restricted list earlier this week.
Cubs ace Marcus Stroman has a cartilage fracture in his right rib and President of Baseball Operations Jed Hoyer is unsure if he will return for the remainder of the 2023 season.
