On Wednesday, the White Township Supervisors continued to hear comments regarding a proposed noise ordinance.
Supervisors heard from Robert Sankey, who voiced opposition to a noise ordinance. Sankey said an ordinance is quote, “an extreme overreaction,” and an expense to taxpayers. He also asked if there was a better way to handle this issue.
Kelly Coleman, who first brought up the idea of a noise ordinance after bands reportedly practiced in the former Jim Davis Autobody Garage, said one possible solution would be to create a special event permit that would include fees and bring community partners together.
Township Manager Chris Anderson said he and code enforcement officials have looked into these reports, and he detailed the next steps.
In other business, Supervisors approved a motion to implement a speed limit of 35 miles per hour along Sexton Road. This comes on the heels of several reports made regarding speeding drivers and a speed study in the area. Anderson said speed signs should be up within five days.
