The Penguins clash with the Washington Capitals tonight in the second game of a two-game series at PPG Paints Arena, and they may have Kasperi Kapanen on the ice. The right wing practiced with the team for the first time yesterday and said it felt good.
Kapanen was stranded in Finland because of an issue with his work visa, and then had to quarantine for seven days after arriving in Pittsburgh. He’d applied for the new visa in October, but the government never got back to him until this month. He says he’s looking forward to working on a line with Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel. Coach Mike Sullivan got his first look at Kapanen and liked what he saw.
The Penguins yesterday assigned forward Sam Lafferty to their taxi squad and called up defenseman Kevin Czuczman from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Forwards Anthony Angello and Frederick Gaudreau were sent from the taxi squad to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Airtime for the Penguins and Capitals tonight is 6 o’clock on U92.5 FM and the U92.5 SportsChannel.
