Notices have been sent to people that get their water from the Central Indiana County Water Authority about a breakdown in testing for a certain cyst in the water.
The notice states that at various times in July, October, November of 2016, march, june, September and October of last year and in January of this year, the CICWA did not meet treatment technique requirements. The authority voluntarily keeps a record of giardia cysts, and on the 12 occasions that were listed in the notice, the records were not properly kept. Robert Nymick with the Water Authority said that the data that they had sent voluntarily to the Department of Environmental Protection did not have the times for the tests, and as such, the records were considered incomplete.
Nymick also says that there were no problems with giardia cysts in the water on those occasions, and there is no problem now.
