Earlier this month, the Indiana Fire Association announced that calls were made to try to get people to solicit to a fundraiser that would benefit the local fire department that they were not a part of. Two more fire departments are speaking out on what appear to be calls that are soliciting donations.
Both the Blairsville and Blacklick Fire Departments announced in a joint news release that they received reports similar to the ones received in Indiana and White Township that people were receiving calls soliciting funds for “local fire departments”. The two departments say that they are not part of that fundraiser and would never solicit funds over the phone. Furthermore, they ask everyone to disregard any such calls.
