State Senator Joe Pittman announced yesterday he was reappointed to serve as the chairman of the senate’s Urban Affairs and Housing committee.
The committee oversees the operations of the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency and is responsible for reviewing legislation and resolutions related to several topics pertaining to housing and community revitalization, including vacant and unimproved public lands, public housing and urban development and other areas. Recently, the committee focused on helping municipalities address blighted and abandoned properties and returning them to productive use; implementing community revitalization issues; protecting property buyers and tenants; and addressing veteran homelessness and housing needs.
In a statement, Pittman said he was happy to continue as the committee chairman. One key area he wants to focus on is the consideration of federal funding being distributed for landlord and tenant assistance.
