An Indiana woman has been charged with stealing more than $230,000 from a relative between April of 2016 and February of last year.
Blairsville Borough police have charged 62-year-old Jean Gasbarro with a single felony charge of theft by unlawful taking for making $233,411 in unauthorized withdrawals from the 91-year-old victim’s account. The thefts were discovered in a forensic audit of the victim’s bank account after Indiana County social service officials noted questionable transactions. Blairsville Police Chief Michael Allman reported that 71 of 98 withdrawals were signed by Gasbarro without the victim’s knowledge.
Gasbarro was charged via summons and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Jennifer Rega on May 30th.
