At the Indiana School Board meeting Monday night, Board President Walter Schroth used his board president message to address rumors on social media about the possible closure of a district elementary school.
In his message, Schroth addressed the rumors directly, saying that the board has gone above and beyond to remain transparent about all its processes, and make sure that the public’s voice is heard.
In other business, the board approved an expansion of a cooperative agreement with IUP for speech-language pathology services. IUP currently provides those services for literacy programs at Ben Franklin. That program will now be offered at East Pike.
The board unanimously approved the principles for governance and leadership, which were written by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association. To view those principles, please click on the link below.

Finally, board members congratulated and gave their thanks to district bus driver Debra Shaffer for her quick thinking in making sure kids got off the bus she was driving before it caught fire on December 22nd near Shelocta.
