The Marion Center School Board approved some changes to their curriculum guide for the next year at their meeting last night.
One of the major changes will come to the mathematics curriculum as the district will go to the traditional route of Algebra, followed by Geometry and then Algebra-2. In Superintendent Clint Weimer said this will help set up students to take on more rigorous math programs, like Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus. In prior years, the district had gone with Algebra followed by Algebra-2 as a running order for the math curriculum.
The district is also adding some electives and a new English honors class to the coursebook.
In other business, the administration is getting ready to approve the budget for the next school year. Weimer said that there are still a lot of things up in the air when it comes to federal and state education funding. Next month, the board will give preliminary approval to the budget for public display. The final budget must be passed by the board before the end of June.
