One member of the Penguins who will miss the start of the season is hall-of-fame announcer Mike Lange.
Lange said that he is not going to be in the booth to start the season due to concerns over Covid-19. The 76-year-old play by play announcer for the Penguins Radio Network said that this was out of an abundance of caution and his doctors advised him not to return to the broadcast booth until he is vaccinated.
Lange will not be gone from the broadcasts altogether, as he will take part remotely during intermission segments and other team broadcasts. Over the last two years, Lange has taken on a reduced workload, and Josh Getzoff handled a majority of the road games during that time.
