Pennsylvania’s Lieutenant Governor is considering a run for the U.S. Senate in 2022.
John Fetterman announced on Friday that he is exploring a run in the U.S. Senate and has set up a campaign account for the state’s open senate seat. The former mayor of Braddock has run for the U.S. Senate before, coming in third in the 2016 Democratic primary. In 2018, he successfully ran for the Lieutenant Governor’s seat, and looks to step down from that seat when his term expires. There are openings in both positions as Wolf’s two-term limit comes to an end in 2022, and Republican U.S. Senator Pat Toomey said he would not run for another term of office.
Fetterman had said in the past that he was considering a run for either Senator or PA Governor but he said he was no longer interested in being Governor.
