At the Indiana Borough Council Work Session on Tuesday, The borough approved changes to the special events regulations.
The reason for the changes to the regulations was, according to Police Chief William Sutton, the fact that over the years, the regulations became confusing as more and more were added. Not only will the changes streamline and refine the language in the rules, Sutton said it will also incorporate some recently-passed elements, like the open container waivers. The streamlining will also affect the fee tables to make them less confusing. Events that have already been approved by borough council will be allowed to operate under the old rules.
In other business, the borough accepted the donation of two parcels of land in the borough’s first ward, which were donated by John and Laura Morganti. No word yet on how that land will be utilized by the borough. The borough also approved inviting C. Michael Foote in for an interview for the Borough Manager position. He is currently employed by the City of Reading.
