In what has become an annual tradition at IUP, the university has been named a “Military Friendly School” by Victory Media.
It’s the seventh year that IUP has been named for the list, recognizing the ongoing mission of improving services to veterans and military-affiliated students and their families, according to Dr. Cory Shay, the director of the IUP Military and Veterans Resource Center
The “MVRC”, which was established in 2014 and took on the responsibilities of the Veterans Affairs Benefits Office in 2016, is a one-stop information and referral site for military-affiliate students.
In the last four years, IUP has increased its enrollment of students in that category by 77 percent. The fall 2017 enrollment figure for vets and active military was 913.
