Two games remain in the Youth Legion Western Regional at First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City today.
The two Indiana County teams bowed out yesterday. S.W. Jack fell behind to Saegertown, 7-0 and they were able to score five runs over the final three innings, but could not make it all the way back in a 9-5 loss. The Drillers finish the tournament 0-and-3.
In the evening game, Homer City Post 493 rallied from a 3-0 deficit with a run in the third, another in the sixth, and two more in the seventh, but the Bears fell just short, stranding runners at first and second with two straight strikeouts to end the game and drop a 5-4 decision to Murrysville.
The Regional concludes today with the third place game between Edinboro and Saegertown at 4 o’clock, followed by the championship between Penn Trafford and Monroeville. The top three teams make it into this weekend’s state championship tournament, so Penn Trafford and Monroeville are already in, with the winner of the Edinboro/Saegertown game also headed to the states.
