Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced on Tuesday that he is starting backup quarterback Mason Rudolph on Sunday’s game between the Steelers and the Browns.
The Steelers captured the AFC North title with their win last Sunday against the Colts, and Tomlin will give Roethlisberger the week off to rest and recover before the playoffs begin.
Rudolph is a third-year backup and played 10 games in 2019 when Roethlisberger was out with injury. This will mark the first time Rudolph has played in Cleveland since last season when Cleveland’s Myles Garrett used Rudolph’s helmet as a weapon and hit the quarterback in the head with it.
