State senator Joe Pittman has issued a statement concerning the decision by the State System of Higher Education to freeze tuition.
Earlier in the week, the State System Board of Governors voted to keep tuition the same for the fifth consecutive year, with tuition for in-state undergraduate students at $7,716. In his statement, Pittman said that they have worked to support IUP and give them the chance to stabilize finances.
He added that Senate Republicans were very happy to work with PASSHE “to continue our strong multi-year investments to ensure IUP will have the resources they need to hold the line on tuition” and said that the freeze will go a long way in making sure students have access to affordable education that will allow them to succeed after college.
