The financial plight of IUP and other members of the State System of Higher Education was highlighted in Monday’s edition of the New York Times.
The Times article, “How the Pandemic Is Imperiling A Working-Class College” details the financial problems that were exasperated by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. The article touched on the upgrades to dormitories under former IUP president Tony Atwater before the 2008 recession, the drop of enrollment and rise of tuition, and also touches on the recent teacher retrenchments by the State System of Higher Education.
