Former Pitt basketball star Nelly Cummings has signed to play professionally in Cyprus. He’ll play for AEL Limassol in the top-tier division of the eleven-team Cypriot League.
Cummings is currently practicing with a group of former Pitt players for ESPN’s “The Basketball Tournament” which carries a $1 million first prize. Among the former Pitt stars suiting up for “The Zoo Crew” in Tuesday’s first game against a group of former West Virginia Mountaineers are Sam Young, Michael Young, Gary McGhee, Jamel Artis, Levance Fields, Talib Zanna, Josh Newkirk, and three players from last year’s NCAA tournament surprise: Cumming, Nike Sibande, and Greg Elliott. The team is coached by player/coach Gilbert Brown, with DeJuan Blair as his assistant.
