The Marion Center fire department had a busy day yesterday with two calls within an hour of each other.
The first call was for a vehicle accident with injuries on Route 119 North in North Mahoning Township. Marion Center joined Perry Township and Rossiter fire departments at the scene at 2:02 PM along with State Police from the Punxsutawney Barracks and Jefferson EMS. Marion Center fire officials said on their Facebook page that the crash was near the intersection of 119 and Locust Road just north of Marchand. A landing zone was also set up nearby to take one person from the scene for treatment. State police have not released details on the crash.
The other call was for a reported structure fire at 2:45 PM on East Creek Road. Marion Center, Clymer and Plumville fire departments, the county HAZMAT team and Citizens Ambulance were dispatched to a home around East Creek and Kolhepp Roads. The fire was quickly put out as crews from the fire departments and REA were already nearby. The fire was contained to a breaker box inside the home. Units remained on the scene for about an hour providing ventilation.
