The Pirates’ bullpen stumbled again on Saturday night, costing them a chance at beating San Francisco. Greg Brown reports.
2019 first round draft pick Quinn Priester will become the fourth former Pirates first rounder to debut this season when he takes the mound Monday night at PNC Park against Cleveland. Priester is 7-3 with a 4.31 ERA in eighteen starts this season with AAA Indianapolis. He’s struck out 84 batters and walked 35. He was pulled after one inning on Friday versus Omaha so he would be fresh for Monday night. Manager Derek Shelton confirmed last night that Priester is in line for the start.
Top 2021 overall pick Henry Davis was the first former Bucs’ #1 to make his Major League debut this season, followed by ’21 supplemental first round pitcher Carmen Mlodzinski and then 2020 top pick infielder Nick Gonzalez.
