A major traffic disruption takes place this week on Route 22 in East Wheatfield Township. PennDOT says that starting tomorrow through July 29th, the westbound lanes of the busy highway will be closed to traffic nightly from 11 PM to 5 AM between McFeaters Road and the Route 403 on-ramp.
Westbound traffic will be detoured in Ebensburg using Route 219 to Route 422 to Route 119 South to Blairsville.
The closure is for repairs on the Cramer Pike/Route 403 bridge over Route 22. A bridge beam was damaged when it was struck by a tractor trailer hauling an oversized load in 2018. The beam was heated and straightened this spring.
Next week, the eastbound lanes of Route 22 will close.
MARGARET ROAD UPDATE
Night work will begin tomorrow on the Margaret Road/Route 422 intersection project in Plumcreek Township, Armstrong County.
Workers will be excavating for a new temporary road on the west end of the project. There are no anticipated lane closures, but motorists should use caution in the area and be alert for an increase in vehicles entering and exiting the work zone through Thursday.
Starting next Monday the 24th, through the end of September, there will be a detour on Margaret Road as crews continue excavation and drainage work.
