State police reports today include a Blairsville man taken into custody last Wednesday on an outstanding warrant. 34-year-old Nicholas Bruner was pulled over for a traffic stop on Route 119 at Lloyd Street in Burrell Township, and the warrant turned up on a computer check. Bruner is charged with simple assault, criminal trespass, and harassment (physical contact) for an incident last Monday.
Police also report a few drug investigations. A 25-year-old Rural Valley man overdosed on Friday afternoon at a location along Benjamin Franklin Highway in Shelocta. Police seized heroin from him. They do not report his medical status or whether or not he was arrested.
A 30-year-old woman and 35-year-old man, both from Indiana, were taken into custody on July 7th after police were contacted in the early morning hours by Martins supermarket personnel. The suspects had been in a car in the parking lot for hours, apparently drifting into and out of consciousness. They were found to have a controlled substance and to also both have outstanding warrants.
State police conducted a sobriety checkpoint at South 6th Street and IRMC Drive last Wednesday. They pulled over 57 motorists, turned up one drunk driver, made two misdemeanor arrests, and wrote four citations and fifteen warnings.
Police are also investigating the theft of a TV valued at $1,800 from the White Township Walmart, reported yesterday morning.
