Several community members are gearing up for a work and maintenance day at Camp Seph Mack. This year, however, will look a bit different than other years.
Along with routine upkeep, camp staff and community volunteers will meet to clean up a recent incident of vandalism. A post was by Friends of Camp Seph Mack on Wednesday saying that two camp buildings – the dining hall and Rinn Lodge — were vandalized between July 5th and last Sunday morning. Reports said multiple appliances were damaged, windows were broken, and a fire extinguisher was discharged inside the facility. Nothing was stolen from the buildings and state police are continuing to investigate the incident.
Laurel Highlands Council Assistant Scout Executive Michelle Brenneman said the response from local residents has been great, as several people have offered monetary and physical donations.
Brenneman adds the monetary donations will help both now and in the future.
Work begins at 9 AM and volunteers are asked to report to the maintenance building near the camp entrance.
Those unable to make the work day can log on to lhcscouting.org/SupportSephMack.
