On Friday, the Cares Center for Indiana County, along with county officials, were on hand for the dedication of a pinwheel garden that is paying tribute to victims of child abuse.
The noontime ceremony commemorated National Child Abuse Prevention Month and it’s celebration in Indiana County with the planting of several small and large pinwheels that were purchased for donations to the CARE Center of Indiana County, which helps to identify, prevent and intervene in cases of child abuse and neglect. Jessica Clark, the director of the CARE Center of Indiana County said that this year so far has been the most successful for pinwheel sales.
On hand for the ceremony was District Attorney Pat Dougherty, who talked about the importance of the CARE Center. The Center helps with the investigation of child abuse cases by interviewing the children in a non-threatening environment by trained professionals. That interview is provided to investigators and court officials for their use.
Pinwheels can still be bought from the CARE Center by going to their facility at 125 North 4th Street.
