Ithiel Horton scored 18 points to lead the Pitt Panthers to a 70-55 win in Miami in their ACC opener.
Pitt overcame 23 fouls and 16 turnovers to win its fifth straight game. The Panthers two leading scorers, Justin Champagnie and Xavier Johnson, were in foul trouble all night. Horton, a transfer from Delaware, filled the void as he broke out of a season-long shooting slump, and Au’Dies Toney stepped up with 15 points for the Panthers.

Pitt out-rebounded the Hurricanes, 43-29. Capel says the Panthers are a much better rebounding team than they have been in the past, but they have to get even better.
Pitt is 5-and-1 and will play host to Louisville on Tuesday.
