UPDATE:
Police have released more information on the collision that sent a pedestrian to the hospital this morning.
Indiana Borough Police say the accident happened at 7:39 this morning at the start of the 600 block of School Street. It was determined that a car driven by 45-year-old Mary Meterko of Indiana was going south on South 7th Street and turned left to go on to school street but did not see a Charlene Crusan, a 68-year-old Indiana woman in the crosswalk. The collision happened in the crosswalk. Indiana Borough Police were assisted by Citizen’s Ambulance, who took Crusan to Indiana Regional Medical Center for treatment of light to moderate injuries.
Traffic was blocked on School Street for about an hour as crews investigated the crash.
WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED
One person was injured in a crash Wednesday morning in Downtown Indiana.
The crash was reported just before 8:00 AM this morning at the intersection of School and Seventh Streets. Indiana Borough Police on-scene said that a pedestrian was walking across School street when a car coming south on Seventh went into the intersection and turned onto School street, colliding with the pedestrian. Police also say that the driver did not see the pedestrian.
The pedestrian, who was not identified by police on-scene, was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center for treatment of possible mild to moderate injuries. Police were on the scene for the better part of an hour investigating the collision.
