State Police from the Kiski Valley Barracks are investigating a car jacking that happened this morning in Blairsville that left one person injured.
Blairsville Borough Police were called to the Keeper of the Flame in Blairsville at 6:10 AM where a 64-year-old woman who worked there reported that she was assaulted by an unknown black man. He was successful in taking her vehicle and drove towards Derry Township, but later abandoned the vehicle for unknown reasons. Trooper Tristian Tappe said the suspect attacked the woman and left her with a laceration, but he was injured in the arm during that attack. She gave an update on the victim at a news conference this afternoon in Blairsville.
Tappe said that the suspect tried to break into Mugg’s Tavern and Lee’s Ice Cream, but was unable to gain entry. Then he went to a Kettle Dad BBQ food truck and stole possibly money and other items from the truck. The suspect then made his way to Taylor’s Trucking in Derry Township, where Tappe said he stole another vehicle.
Tappe said that the keys were left in the truck. The truck had a Pennsylvania License Plate with the number XLE-1209.
Police say the suspect is armed and dangerous and a motive for the attack is unknown.
