There is some clarification on the rumored talks between the Pirates and Yankees on a trade involving Jameson Taillon and Josh Bell.
The Athletic’s Rob Biertempfel reports that the trade conversation originated with internal discussion in the Yankees’ front office. Biertempfel writes that the Pirates “would have to be blown away” to deal Taillon, who is recovered from Tommy John surgery and is under team control through 2022.
Former Pirates outfielder Jason Martin has signed a minor league deal with the Texas Rangers. The Pirates released him after the 2020 season. He hit .200 in limited playing time over two seasons after being acquired from Houston in the Gerrit Cole trade.
