The fall semester will conclude at IUP today as the university is scheduled to hold winter commencement ceremonies this morning.
The ceremonies will honor nearly 650 graduating students who are scheduled to finish their academic careers in December 2020 and January 2021, and all are being held virtually, similar to this past spring, due to health and safety restrictions due to COVID-19.
IUP President Michael Driscoll, along with Sam Smith of the IUP Council of Trustees, will preside over the ceremonies, and remarks during commencement will be made by two IUP graduates: Marvin Hobson for the graduate student address, who will receive his doctor of philosophy in English, and Paige McLaughlin, a dual-degree recipient in interdisciplinary fine arts/dance and speech-language pathology and audiology, for the undergraduate address.
Links for six available ceremonies will go live on IUP’s website at 10 a.m., and each ceremony will be specific to the undergraduate’s, master’s and doctoral honorees for all six university colleges.
