As the fall 2020 term comes to an end at IUP, commencement ceremonies are set to be held on Saturday, but like the 2020 Spring semester graduation, this will be a virtual ceremony.
Virtual commencement ceremonies will be posted on the IUP website at 10:00 tomorrow morning, with six ceremonies available. The ceremonies will be specific to the undergraduate’s, master’s and doctoral degrees recipients of each of the six colleges at IUP. Two graduates will offer remarks during the ceremonies. Marvin Hobson of Fort Pierce, Florida, who will receive his doctor of philosophy in English will give the graduate student address and the undergraduate speaker will be Paige McLaughlin of Scottdale. She is a dual-degree recipient in interdisciplinary fine arts/dance and speech-language pathology and audiology. IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll will preside over the ceremonies, and he will be joined by Sam Smith, president of IUP’s Council of Trustees.
The ceremonies will honor nearly 650 students graduating this month and in January of 2021. The ceremonies are being held virtually in light of safety and health restrictions due to Covid-19.
