Vincent Davis rushed for 247 yards and a touchdown, as Pitt defeated Georgia Tech, 34-20, in Atlanta. Pitt ends the regular season at 6-and-5.
Davis set the tone when he ran for 74 yards, to the Georgia tech 10-yard line, on the first play from scrimmage. Alex Kessman completed that drive with a 25-yard field goal, one of his four field goals on the night.
Coach Pat Narduzzi says the rushing game enabled Pitt to control the clock and the tempo of the game, especially in the fourth quarter.
Narduzzi saluted his players and coaches for their vigilance all season long in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pitt played without defensive end Rashad Weaver and free safety Damar Hamlin, who opted out of playing the season finale. Both were apparently looking to avoid injury as they prepare for the NFL draft.
