SENIOR LEGION
Homer City Post 493 forced a deciding third game in their series with Murrysville, sprinting to a 5-0 lead and holding on for a 5-4 win last night at First Commonwealth Bank Field. All four of Murrysville’s runs came in the seventh inning.
Tristan Redinger hit a second inning solo home run and Michael Krejocic followed later in the inning with a two-run single. Andrew McGee’s sacrifice bunt brought home another run. McGee earned the win, pitching five-and-two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking seven. Braden Dunn threw an inning of shutout no-hit ball. Michael Dolan had two hits and Post 493 was spotless in the field with no errors.
The deciding game will be today at Murrysville.
Young Township forced a deciding third game in their series with a 7-4 win over Hempfield East. Haden Brink hit a two-run home run and Dustin Coleman hit a solo shot. Coleman and Colin Saxion also had run-scoring singles.
Top seed Bushy Run eliminated Blairsville with a 7-0 victory.
Latrobe ended Somerset’s season with a 7-4 win.
YOUTH LEGION
S.W. Jack blitzed Marion Center, 17-1. Sully VanHoose had a double and a walkoff grand slam and drove in seven runs overall. Luke Rowe also homered. Jamison Miller was 2-for-2 with a double and Caden Force was also 2-for-2 and was the winning pitcher. Rocco Cosentino also doubled. S.W. Jack will play Young Township today in the round robin.
Mahoning Valley bested Homer City Post 493, 13-2.
Brookville downed Kovacik Insurance.
Armstrong topped Young Township.
LITTLE LEAGUE
The 14u softball team representing Indiana, Clymer, and Marion Center defeated West Suburban, 10-9 in the first game of the best-of-three series to determine the Section Four champion. The second game is today at 6 o’clock and you can see it on Renda Digital TV starting at 5:45. With a win, Indiana would move into the state Little League playoffs.
