At Tuesday night’s meeting, Indiana Borough Council approved the 2021 budget.
The vote came 11-1 with Poom Taylor against the budget, but the tax ordinance passed unanimously. The budget balanced out at $5,965,235, which represented a three percent decrease in both expenditures and income. Property taxes for borough residents remains at 5.662 mils.
In other business, the board approved an inter-fund transfer resolution of $500,000 from the solid waste/recycling fund to the general fund, but a similar resolution to send $200,000 from the solid waste/recycling fund to the parking fund was tabled. Council member Gerald Smith said that he was concerned if the parking authority would be able to pay that back in 12 months.
The issue will be brought up at the borough council meeting in January.
Finally, the borough office building’s deep cleaning was completed Tuesday. Workers that need to be in the office will be allowed back in, while those who can work from home can continue to do so. The building remains closed to the public, but those who need to have a meeting with anyone at the borough offices can set up appointments.
