The Blairsville Saltsburg school board approved several purchases for the district, hired new support staff and substitutes, and passed the final calendar for next school year at Tuesday night’s meeting.
The board voted on the purchase of lawn equipment for each of the district’s campuses, at a cost not to exceed $8,900. The board also approved the purchase of new equipment for the district’s security officers, including new tactical vests. The district will also purchase new Chromebook computers for its students, to replace those that have been damaged.
In other news, the board passed the final 2018-19 school calendar, and the district’s Drug and Substance Abuse policy was updated to include criteria for pre-employment drug screening.
Lastly, the board hired new cafeteria staff, a long-term social studies substitute for the district, and an additional bus driver.
The next voting meeting is set for April 24th and 7:30 PM at Saltsburg’s campus.
