The Senior Legion District 31 playoffs begin today with four best-of-three series. The top seed is Bushy Run, which was 14-3-1 in the regular season. They will take on eighth seeded Blairsville, which was 2-16, with game one today at noon at Penn-Trafford High School, game two tomorrow at Saylor Park in Black Lick, and if necessary, a third and deciding game back at Penn-Trafford on Thursday. Bushy Run won the two times they played this season, 10-0 and 15-1.
Number seven seed Homer City Post 493 (8-10 in the regular season) visits second seed Murrysville (14-4) at 4 o’clock at Haymaker Park in Murrysville. Game two tomorrow is at First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City. Murrysville took both games when the two teams played this season, by scores of 13-3 and 7-4.
Third seed Latrobe (13-5) will host number six Somerset (8-10) this afternoon.
Number five Young Township, at 8-9-1, plays at Hempfield East (13-5) at 5:30 tonight at Seton Hill University. Game two of that series is tomorrow at Bertolino Field in West Lebanon. Hempfield East won both times they played YT this season, by scores of 2-0 and 10-9.
