There’s been a big theft of merchandise at the Punxsutawney Walmart store and it was apparently pulled off by two people who have hit Walmart stores in multiple Walmarts in this region and in Ohio.
State police say the Punxsutawney theft occurred early yesterday morning at the store along Route 119 south of town. A man entered the store at around 3 AM and over the course of the next hour he took $4,563 worth of electronic items, including computer hard drives, Roku streaming devices, wireless routers, GoPro cameras, Blu-Ray Star Wars movies, graphing calculators, and other items, which were placed in a plastic tote that was also stolen.
The thief left the store through the Lawn & Garden emergency exit where he was picked up by a second suspect driving a dark gray Kia Sportage with an out-of-state plate. Polcie say the two then drove to the Clearfield Walmart store and stole the same types of items there between 5 and 6 AM. They had performed the same type of theft at the Clarion Walmart store on March 9th and at a Walmart in Poland, Ohio last year.
The suspect who went into the store is a white male, 30 to 45 years old. There is no description of the other suspect.
