The Marion Center School Board approved motions to refinish the high school gym floor and to authorize an architectural firm to begin planning another renovation at the high school.
The board accepted a quote from S & S Flooring of Ambridge to refinish the high school gym floor at a cost of $22,000. The work will begin at the conclusion of the current school year, but in the mean time, the board will discuss updating the bee mascot which will appear on the floor.
The board also authorized HHSDR Architects / Engineers to move forward with planning and blue printing the renovation of the high school library. The firm will subsequently advertise and collect bids for the project, eventually presenting various options for the board to choose from.
In other news, the board heard public support for the establishment of a Junior High Cross Country team at the beginning of the meeting, and would eventually vote to establish such a team 6-2-1 with Dwight Farmery and William McMillen opposing (Charles Beatty absent). The cost of the team is not to exceed $5300.
Lastly, the board accepted the resignations of high school art teacher Catherine Paterson, who will retire in June after 32 years, and of Dave McCoy, retiring from maintenance after 29.5 years.
