The Indiana County Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting on Friday and the guest speaker for its meeting asked attendees to look at their businesses in a different way.
The guest speaker for this year was Jeffrey Tobin, former owner of Henry Hall Office Products, who compared the Covid-19 pandemic to tsunamis that will come ashore and destroy buildings and businesses. He said that one of the things that businesses need to do to survive any major disaster, be it a pandemic or a national chain coming into town, is to mentally prepare for the probability that things will never be the same.
He also said the best thing to do after disintegration is to find how you can re-integrate and move on.
During the meeting it was announced that because of the cancellation of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce Business Hall of Fame Induction Dinner, the 2021 class will consist of the 2020 chamber hall of fame class. This will include Frank Gorrell, founder of Season-All, R. Hastie Ray, publisher of the Indiana Gazette, Johnathan Glass former President and CEO of what is now First Commonwealth Bank, Fred Musser of Musser Nurseries, and Christine Toretti, former chairwoman and CEO of SW Jack and the Jack company. Those five individuals will be inducted into the Business Hall of Fame at a formal dinner at the KCAC tentatively scheduled for the spring.
