In a Facebook posting to the community, Purchase Line School District Superintendent Shawn Ford yesterday outlined the district’s return-to-school plan on Monday, which will be under stiffer state regulation.
Among the new standards, if there is one positive Covid-19 case at either school, the student population must be reduced significantly. If there are two to four cases, the schools must shut down for three to seven days. For five or more cases, they must close for 14 days. The case monitoring will be over a rolling 14-day period.
Ford emphasized that the state of Pennsylvania is going to have more control over in-person instruction decisions.
 :
Ford announced that starting on Monday, Pre-K through 5th grade, 7th grade, and 12th grade will use a four-day Monday through Thursday format with Friday being fully remote. Students in 6th grade and grades 8 through 11 will use the A-B, 2-day hybrid model, with fully remote learning on Friday.
Purchase Line athletics will open their winter season practices on Monday with a new mask mandate that applies at all times for both competition and while at rest.
The superintendent urged the entire community to cooperate in the battle against Covid-19.
Ford acknowledged that so-called “covid fatigue” is real, but everyone in the district must continue to embrace the Covid-19 mitigation practices to keep the school doors open.
