Indiana Borough will begin its summer paving program this week, and because of the Independence Day holiday on Tuesday, the schedule is a bit different than in previous years. Rather than starting on a Monday, the paving company will begin on Wednesday, so the work will most likely not get done in a calendar week.
The streets scheduled to be repaved this year are mostly in what used to be known as the Second Ward, which is now East Ward 2. They include South Avenue, Clark Avenue, Willow, Virginia, Diamond, and Maryland avenues from Sixth to Seventh; South Carpenter Avenue to Philadelphia Street; and Gompers Avenue from Tenth to Eleventh. Roads will be milled and then resurfaced.
In addition to the borough’s paving program, PennDOT is scheduled to begin paving work on Seventh and Fourth streets on July 21st, and Peoples Gas will continue its ongoing work underground on Church Street between Seventh and Ninth.
Also, a stormwater replacement project on 15th Street will be beginning soon. And there is ongoing work on Second Street in the area around the Water Street Park, where a bog is being drained and roadwork will then be done.
