Earlier today, the Indiana Area School District reported that more of their staff members have tested positive for Covid-19.
In a letter posted to the district website, Superintendent Michael Vuckovich said that the district was notified today of a probable positive case of Covid-19 for a staffer at Horace Mann Elementary, a confirmed case at the Junior High School and three additional positive cases at the Senior High. Vuckovich added that because the cases occurred during the closure of the buildings to in-person education, no additional staff or students will need to quarantine at this time.
Vuckovich said that the district will continue towards their planned return to in-person learning on December 7th, but did advise parents that a shutdown could occur either based on the number of cases in a building or based on the number of teachers available to teach. He added that the district is not at that point as of yet, and he thanked the teachers, nurses and support staff for their efforts during the pandemic.
When in-person classes resume on December 7th, the district will continue to operate under the educational model that allows five-days of in-person instruction for K-5, 6th graders having four days of in-person instruction and a day of virtual learning, and the upper grade levels using the hybrid class schedule.
