UPDATE on Penelec customers without power in Homer City:
Power was shut off for nearly 500 Penelec customers in Homer City at 6:20 this morning and was expected to remain off until approximately 2 PM.
At 11 AM, officials told Renda Broadcasting News that work was progressing ahead of schedule and barring any setbacks power could be restored as early as noon, and in a worst-case scenario the project would be completed prior to the original estimated time of 2 PM.
Power lines are being moved to new poles as part of the Route 119 widening and bridge project.
