Organizers have scheduled a third and final virtual public meeting next week to discuss the future of the former site of the Murphy’s store in Blairsville.
The Zoom meeting will be conducted by the Blairsville Community Development Authority and the Indiana County Office of Planning and Development next Wednesday, December 9th, at 7:30 PM.
Because of stipulations attached to the grant money used to demolish the Murphy building, the site must sit vacant for seven years before it can be redeveloped. The group held an initial meeting in September, and then developed preliminary survey to gather public opinions about the site. Information from those surveys was shared with the public at a second meeting last month, resulting in a second survey that will help create more cohesive short-term and long-term visions for the lot.
You can access that second survey at the Office of Planning and Development website or at the “Blairsville Murphy Lot” Facebook page. You can also pick up hard copies at the Blairsville office of Representative Jim Struzzi, the Indiana office of Senator Joe Pittman, the BDCA office, or the Blairsville Borough office.
Anyone who is interested in the results of the second survey, wishes to share their own ideas, or just wants to listen in can join the meeting next Wednesday. Here is the Zoom link:
